Location: Victoria, BC
In Victoria now. We took the ferry from Vancouver, over and into Swartz Bay, then drove down to Victoria. While waiting for the ferry to leave we saw 2 Westies; they were being walked by their owner. They were very cute, dirty-looking but still well-cut. At the end of the ferry ride, we were instructed to head back down to our cars; before going to our car, we searched for the van containing the Westies, and found them sleeping and nestling with each other. It was very cute.
Victoria is much more built-up than I thought it would be, but the downtown is quite pretty.
We checked in to Abigail's Hotel (our anniversary treat to ourselves), then drove downtown and walked around. Mena bought some Hobnobs (finally) at a British sweets shop; we had some bubble tea, which was really good; then we went to an internet cafe for a while, kind of to kill some time.
Then to dinner at Cafe Brio. We both had pumpkin soup; I had a greens salad and Mena a hearts of Romaine salad; I had some steak with potatoes and mustard aioli; Mena had mushroom linguini with pancetta. Mena had a metropolitan. For dessert: Mena had an apple tart, me a chocolate torte with vanilla ice cream.
Back at the hotel, Mena found that she didn't really like champagne, so I drank our "complimentary" bottle of champagne myself.
Mena is still wearing her cuddables (actual product name: "Cuddle duds") which she bought in the outlets in Troutland. I mean, she has taken them off since then, but she wears them every day, because they keep her warm.
