After the library last night we walked over to Portofino's Pizzeria. Desperate to make our salad bar salads worth the money (small for $3.15) we ate a lot of salad. At the salad bar there were all of these salad dressings--none looked very appetizing. One sundried-tomato dressing was really thick and chunky and wrong. And then there was this one with its title in Greek or something, all weird-looking. We didn't use that one.
On the side of a building in Eastsound there was a large mural depicting sea life, and it contained a painting of the Angriest Sea Otter Ever (note: not its official name). It's chasing a fish with wide open jaws, and it looks like it's just mad at the world. It's so evil. The saddest thing is that it looks like it has sad little teeth like Annie; it has some big fang teeth but the rest are all sad and undergrown. Mena got a picture.
Then we drove back to Turtleback in the darkest night I've ever seen. No streetlights or anything, and we didn't really know if we were going the right way, and we saw these totally creepy art pieces hanging from the trees by the side of the road (Orcas Island is known for the large number of artists who live there). I almost screamed, because I thought they were 5 heads tied to the tree branch. I cannot describe how creepy it was.
Finally made it back to Turtleback, without even getting lost, which is good, because if we'd gotten lost we would've ended up in the water.
Back at the inn, we started to play checkers, then stopped; then started to play Scrabble, then stopped; then talked to some other people staying at the inn. Then went to bed.
