We never really thought we'd end up visiting the Pacific Northwest this year. Although we've talked about visiting Victoria, BC for years, the idea of travelling through the United States never really did much for either one of us. Too local, perhaps.
Two factors pushed us toward this trip: (1) We both lost our jobs in October and (2) September 11th. Because we wanted to use the free time we now had and because we did not want to fly or travel abroad, a driving trip to Canada seemed to be the best solution.
So, on November 8th, we packed up the car and headed off.
In total, we traveled 2200 miles, visited 6 cities and consumed way more food than we should have.
We both had a wonderful time and are glad that we had the chance to visit sites nearer to home.
Some favorites:
Place: Orcas Island, WA
Restaurant: Cafe Brio, Victoria, BC
Bed & Breakfast: Turtleback Farm Inn
Attraction: Columbia River Gorge
These journal entries were written by Ben during our trip. Since I'm completely undisciplined while on vacation, I didn't write a word (other than the brief posts I wrote for dollarshort). The photos are mine, however.
Enjoy!
